What can you do with X10 home automation?

X10 is a very powerful and yet flexible technology which is very affordable for the regular guy to setup a full home automation and home security. The best part of using the X10 home technology is that it is a wireless technology and makes use of your existing home electricity wiring to transmit and receive signals from other x10 devices.  So what can you do with this technology?  Basically, there are three major things you can do with x10 home automation kit and they are: x10 Home security, x10 home automation and x10 home entertainment management.

X10 Home security
Setup a x10 home security system for home monitoring.  When you are on holidays, let the security sensors turn on the lights and other devices at random giving the impression that someone is at home.

Setup x10 home security motion sensors to detect movement and turn the lights on and sound the alarm when movement is detected.  Use it as a baby monitor to monitor the room where the baby is and transmit images to your TV in the living, your computer screen or your mobile phone.  It can also be used as electronic baby sitter.
X10 home automation
The simplest thing you can do with x10 home automation is to turn your lights on and off using a remote control or fully automated via the computer. Ok, I know that is not a big deal. But when you know more about x10 home automation then you will realize that it is more than just a cheap technology. Mind you. The remote control is out of sight, which means you can turn on the bedroom light from your living room without seeing the device you are trying to turn on.
Regulate your thermostat and control the heating and cooling of your house. This can be completed automated. Automatically turn on and off all you’re your electrical devices and water the lawn when away fully automated using your x10 home automation kit. Turn off the power outlets in your kid's bedroom when TV time is over.

X10 home entertainment
Setup a complete sound and movies systems using the x10 systems. Have your stereo systems or home cinema systems linked to the x10 system and with a click of the button turn on your film room devices, set the correct lighting mood and drop down the blinds and roll down the wide screen.

To do all these you will need some x10 devices. Basically you will need an x10 home starter kit containing everything you need to setup within ten minutes. You can then expand the system at a later time and when needed. The coolest thing is that you can get started with the right kid for just under $100.
